Ådne (pronounced “ODD-neh”) Lyngstad Nilsen is a Norwegian composer for film, TV, and video games, known for his epic orchestral scores, incorporation of Scandinavian mythology and folk traditions, and his booming “Viking Warrior” voice.
Ådne’s minimal and evocative score to the noir-thriller A Most Savage Beast earned him “Best Composer” at the Aphrodite Film Festival (2019) and “Best Original Score” at the Fusion International Film Festival North (2020). In 2020 he was honoured by his hometown of Hallingdal with the Musikkforum Prize, recognizing his achievements in the music industry.
Ådne’s music will be heard in the upcoming sci-fi satire Roger Roger, and the family drama Den Dagen. Ådne created an epic orchestral score for the World War II drama Arquebus: Fagert er Landet which was incoporated into Norwegian school curriculums. Ådne’s other scoring projects include commercials, podcasts, and public service announcements for companies and organizations across Norway.
Ådne’s first musical love was guitar and he played in and wrote songs for several black metal and death metal bands, often incorporating the Norwegian folk sounds that were all around him as he grew up in the mountain village of Leveld, Hallingdal. He went on to study classical guitar and musicology at the Univeristy of Oslo, and remains active as a performer, arranger, and composer for live shows and special projects, including epic dark folk band Kvedisaga, for which he serves as producer, arranger, bowed bass player, and vocalist.
Having always felt an intense connection to nature, Ådne recently relocated from downtown Oslo to the forested town of Maura, where he enjoys walking in the woods every day and reconnecting to the natural energies that have always inspired artists around the world.
